Fishing – Experience great fishing all year round in the Tweed River.  The estuaries of the Tweed River are famous for Australia’s largest Mangrove Jacks.  September through to March is popular months for Mackerel, Whiting, Dart, and Flathead and of course Mud Crabs and Sand Crabs.  May to August you will be hooking up Tailor, Bream, Jewfish and Blackfish.   No fishing licence is required as Boyds Bay Houseboats pays the annual NSW recreational fishing licence.

 

Game & Reef Fishing – For the more adventurous fishermen, a deep-sea game-fishing boat will collect you from your houseboat near the river mouth and take you out to experience the off shore fishing grounds. Half day, three quarter and full day charters are available, or you can book the entire boat for your exclusive use, fully catered and crewed.  Experience off shore deep sea fishing around reefs and wrecks and can charter for specific fishing types such as trolling, lure, jigging, fly and live baiting.  Your charter includes bait and tackle and hands on instruction for those beginners.  Your skipper will even clean your catch at the end of the day and will give you some great easy gourmet tips on how to prepare and cook your catch back on your houseboat.  Our bluewater fishing grounds yield Pearl Perch, Mahi Mahi, King Fish, Trag Jew, Snapper, Squire, Parrot, Cobia and many more.  Boyds Bay Houseboats will be happy to make all the arrangements for a great day out.

  

Snorkelling & Diving Cook Island - Your charter operator will collect you from your houseboat for an adventure like no other.  Cook Island is a Marine Reserve with an abundance of turtles, tropical fish, ray, wobbegong sharks, spanish dancers, cowrie shells and a large variety of beautiful marine life.  You can also experience 9 Mile Reef, Mary’s Rock, Fido’s Reef and Kingscliff Reef.  Your charter is approximately for 4 hours including morning tea and refreshments.  All snorkelling gear is provided.  Air fills and equipment for scuba diving are available for rent on request.  Boyds Bay Houseboats will be happy to book this trip for you.

  

 Whale Watching & Sightseeing – Your charter operator will collect you from your houseboat so you can discover the beauty of the ocean.  Whale watching (seasonal June – October) & Sightseeing tour charters run for approximately 3 hours.  Morning tea and refreshments are provided on the boat.  You can also enjoy a free BBQ lunch on return to the charter operator’s private jetty on the beautiful Tweed River.  Pack you video camera as you will see amazing majestic whales, cruisey turtles, playful dolphins, amazing flying fish, graceful sting-rays, seabirds and fish.  Waterskiing -  Tweed River is a beautiful river to ski.  You are welcome to bring your ski boat with you on your houseboat holiday and hook up to the back of our houseboats.
